Prep SFC–MS Prep 100
For those who are overwhelmed with solvent disposal and time–consuming solvent cleanup, the Thar Mass Directed SFC–MS Prep 100 System is the automated way to improve a laboratory´s efficiency and turn–around times. This product is the first commercialized SFC product in the world specifically designed for seamless, mass–triggered purification. For those carrying out purification runs in an "open access" regime, Fractionlynx software combined with the power of AutoPurify™ further streamlines the isolation and purification process. AutoPurify allows laboratories to automate the purification process by linking the analytical pre–screen, purification and fraction analysis. By using the analytical pre–screen information, the system can optimize the purification run to reduce the run time, reduce the solvent usage and enhance the quality of the collected fraction.
Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) is essentially a normal phase chromatographic technique with inherent high speed and efficiency due to its primary mobile phase – CO2. As a high pressure liquid or supercritical fluid, using CO2 is a smart solvent for its low viscosity and high diffusivity needed in today´s demanding purification labs and also a sustainable solvent as it is reused after being discarded from other industrial processes. The low viscosity and high diffusivity allows for either much higher theoretical plate counts/better resolution or much faster flow rates without extreme back pressure on the column.
In a nutshell, SFC excels at separating and purifying chiral compounds and natural products because it´s faster, uses much less solvent, and overall is a less expensive and greener method that exceeds High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) in performance for chiral separations.
SFC employs CO2 above or near its critical state (conditions above 31.1 °C and 73.8 bar) in combination with an organic modifier such as methanol or other alcohol that serves as a co–solvent.
